Brittany Turns 30!

So I know that this post is coming late since my birthday was more than two months ago, but I have finally accepted the fact that I am indeed thirty years old. When I was 20, thirty seemed really old and as a kid I never really thought about what life would be like when I was 30. I never imagined much past 25. But now, I have decided that I am not really that old until I turn 40! (Sorry 40-somethings). When I turn forty I will actually have a high school graduate! Now that's old! So my real birthday present I am going to get in June when Tyson takes me to New York City to see the sights and attend my childhood best friend's wedding. I can't wait. But for my actual birthday, Tyson planned a night full of surprises for me. First he brought me home a dozen of my favorite flowes, yellow roses. Then we went off to race the go-karts at boomers which was a blast! Then we had dinner at my favorite place, Piatti's down near the beach in La Jolla. After dinner, I needed to use the bathroom and Tyson told me to meet him out front. When I met him, he had a beach blanket in arms and we walked down to the beach (my favorite place on the planet). When we got there, he had hidden under the blanket a present, a piece of birthday cake with candles and a lighter and a bottle of Martinelli's sparkling cider. So let me give you some background on my birthday gift. The day before my birthday I was shopping in Williams-Sonoma (the awesomest store ever) and found a kitchen-aid on clearance for $150! The only problem was the color: green. I have needed a kitchen-aid since I was married 11 years ago. I put it on hold as there was only one of them while I deliberated over the color. That night I decided that I loved the idea of green and redoing my whole kitchen. So I told Tyson that I wanted to go buy the kitchen-aid. The next morning, I was running errrands at Target when Tyson called and said that Williams-Sonoma called and said that they checked out the kitchen-aid and that it was broken and missing some pieces. I was devastated to say the least. Okay, so on with the story. So the present on the beach was some cute dish towels that matched the kitchen-aid. Tyson said, "You probably want to return these, I bought them before I was called about the kitchen-aid." When we walked back to the car I noticed a huge box wrapped on the front seat. My first reaction was that Tyson had paid full price for a kitchen-aid. When I opened the present I realized that he had made up that story so that he could surprise me! Then, the next night he had another surprise and all my friends showed up at the door for cake and ice cream. It was a great birthday.

The Kids Doing What They Do

Here are some pictures of the kids doing what they do every day. Our daily lives consist of school and then running off in the mom taxi to swim team, baseball, gymnastics, ballet and Courtney's newest favorite, tennis. It actually looks like so much fun that I signed up for tennis lessons too! We better move to a country club when Courtney and I develop our mad tennis skills. I only wish that I could look as cute as Courtney in her tennis outfit! The boys are lucky to get a park day in every week. That's their favorite.

Wrestlemania

Ever since the kids were little, they have loved to wrestle with their dad on the bed. One by one each kid joins in until it gets out of control. A lot of laughing and tickling is involved. It is probably one of the favorite activities that they do with their dad. Lately, Tyson has been getting taken down. There are just too many kids! And he is really in for it as soon as Jack is able to join in on the fun!

Valentines day

In Valentines Day past, we had a fun group of friends who always had a Valentines Day party that involved food, couples and a fun version of the Newlywed Game! This year Rachel Hawkins and I decided to throw a small group party and it was a blast! We had an italian soda bar, and a small appetizer and dessert table. We played the Newlywed Game and had a fantastic prize for the winning couple which was a date night gift basket including treats, a candle, and a movie. Rachel is so talented at decorating and small details it really looked adorable! I am talented at eating good food. So we both got to use our talents on this one! Hope everyone had a good valentines day!
